Albany County Deputies Involved in Fatal Shooting ALBANY, CO.
, WY On Sunday, December 6th, deputies of the Albany County Sheriff's Office were investigating a report of a possible suicidal subject from Colorado, who was in Albany County. Albany County Deputies conducted an extensive search to attempt to locate the subject, and subsequently located the man in his truck, in the upper parking lot of the Snowy Range Ski Area. The subject, identified as John Alan Britton,48, a Colorado resident, succumbed to the wounds at the scene. Albany County Sheriff Dave O'Malley requested the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to investigate the officer involved shooting. A team of investigators from DCI have been on scene since Sunday afternoon.
An autopsy was scheduled for 11:00 Monday, in Loveland, Colorado. At the conclusion of their investigation, a final report will be delivered to the Albany County Attorney for review. Deputies Matt Donnell, Edward Rosier, Aaron Gallegos, and Adam Dean, are on administrative leave, pending the conclusion of the investigation, as per policy of the Albany County Sheriff's Office.
